How to read "ACE - Altimeter Corrected Elevations"-DEM-data from ESA ?

Short method :

1. Download ACE_VRT.ZIP that contains :
   • a .VRT file for each .ACE tile
   • a global VRT which is the mosaic of each tile : WorldACE.VRT
   • the source code that generates the .VRT descriptor for each tile
2. Unzip it in the same directory as the .ACE files and use GDAL on the .VRT files

Longer method :

1. Compile the GenACEVRT.c source code
2. Run it in the same directory as the .ACE files
3. Enjoy !
